EncounterLife Workbook: Coaches' Edition
Written for ordinary humans living in a modern age of disincarnation, loneliness, and emotional fragility, EncounterLife is a 12 week journey of learning what it means to be loved by God in your heart, soul, mind and strength, so that you can then share that love with others. This coaches' edition is designed so that you can feel fully equipped to lead your cohort, small group, or congregation through the EncounterLife journey. Each chapter contains detailed coaches' notes which will guide you through leading the session from beginning to end, a complete teaching, and suggestions for further reading, next steps, and personal sharing. You will be empowered to coach your group towards social resilience by giving each member the opportunity to reflect on and share their reactions and feelings without judgment, and bring their experiences, pain, anxiety, and joy to Jesus in the presence of other people.
Jesus taught his disciples to love; he also taught them to go into the world and make more disciples. God is a missional God, and to be a disciple of Christ is to follow him both deep into love, and further out on mission with him. This includes exploring tools and developing practices that position our whole being to "get in the way of being loved well," and then turn that love into mission. Learn to locate your “okay,” practice a “missional Sabbath,” share your stories of encountering God, and look for ways that God is already at work around you, and join him there. Growing up as a disciple happens as we go.
